Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The Freedom Cloud Data Center is a significant infrastructure initiative aimed at enhancing Kazakhstan's digital capabilities. Located in the Alatau Technopark near Almaty, the facility is designed to bolster the nation's technological sovereignty and attract global IT enterprises. 2 MW and overall power consumption of 13 MW.

This project involves constructing a modern cargo and passenger airport within the Khorgos–Eastern Gate Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan, near the Chinese border. The airport aims to enhance Kazakhstan's role as a key transit hub along the Western Europe–Western China corridor and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

Kazakhstan is undertaking a significant digital infrastructure project in collaboration with Singapore-based GK Hyperscale Ltd. The initiative involves constructing two Tier III hyperscale data centers, each with an IT capacity of 100 megawatts, totaling 200 megawatts. The primary facility will be located in the industrial zone of Akmola Region near Astana, and the secondary facility will be in Temirtau, Karaganda Region.

The Zhanazhol Urea Production Project is a major initiative to strengthen Kazakhstan’s fertilizer production and reduce reliance on imports. 2 million tons of urea — meeting domestic demand and enabling exports to China, Central Asia, and Europe.

The project in Saran, Karaganda Region, is focused on establishing a modern manufacturing facility for household appliances under the Silk Road Electronics brand. The plant began operations in August 2024 and already produces a range of products, including water heaters, kitchen stoves, and vacuum cleaners.

This project involves the expansion of the existing sodium cyanide production facility operated by Talas Investment Company in the Talas district of Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. The expansion aims to increase the plant's annual production capacity from 15,000 to 30,000 tonnes of sodium cyanide, a chemical primarily used in gold mining, metallurgy, agriculture, and dye manufacturing.

The North Buzachi Oil and Gas Field, located on the northwestern tip of the Buzachi Peninsula in Kazakhstan's Mangystau region, is an onshore heavy oil field discovered in 1975. It commenced production in 1999, overcoming technical challenges associated with its high-viscosity crude oil through advanced extraction methods.

The Zhanaozen Hybrid Power Plant is Kazakhstan’s first integrated multi-source energy facility combining renewable and conventional generation technologies to provide low-carbon, reliable electricity for industrial operations in the Mangystau Region. The plant harnesses wind (77 MW), solar photovoltaic (50 MW), and gas-fired (120 MW) generation units, achieving a total installed capacity of 247 MW.

The project involves constructing a hydrogen production unit at the Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery (POCR) in Kazakhstan. This facility will produce hydrogen essential for hydrotreatment processes, enabling the annual production of approximately 160,000 tonnes of winter diesel fuel. The project involves using steam reforming technology, one of the most cost-effective and widely applied methods for hydrogen production worldwide.
