Investment projects in Kazakhstan

Danaflex Group, a leading Russian manufacturer of flexible packaging materials, is launching a new production facility in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. This project is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the Central Asian market and better serve international clients who are relocating or expanding their operations within the region.

1 billion m³/year and a pipe diameter of 1000 mm. The project aims to provide reliable gas supply to Kostanay region (currently ~15% gasified) and enhance Kazakhstan's national gas distribution infrastructure, including integration with the Saryarka pipeline.

The Astana LNG Plant is a planned liquefied natural gas facility located in the industrial zone of Astana, Kazakhstan. The first phase of the project aims to produce 75,000 tonnes of LNG per year, with commissioning scheduled for 2027. The plant will source feedstock from the Saryarka gas trunkline and will include a storage hub to manage seasonal demand fluctuations.

The Kalamkas-Sea and Khazar project is a joint offshore oil and gas development initiative in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. 5 million tonnes of oil and 19 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The project encompasses the construction of two ice-resistant fixed offshore platforms, a coastal processing facility, subsea pipelines, and associated infrastructure.

The Tengiz GSC is a large‑scale gas‑processing facility being built near the Tengiz Field oil field in western Kazakhstan. Its main purpose is to treat “dry gas” produced at Tengiz, extracting valuable hydrocarbon fractions — primarily ethane and propane — from the gas stream. 6 million tonnes of ethane and up to 360,000 tonnes of propane per year.

The Ekibastuz GRES-3 project involves the construction of a large-scale coal-fired power plant designed to strengthen Kazakhstan’s baseload electricity supply and energy security. 7 GW and an annual electricity output of around 20 billion kWh. It will be located within the Ekibastuz energy cluster and fueled by locally sourced Ekibastuz coal, ensuring supply-chain proximity and cost efficiency.

The project entails the construction of a modern facility dedicated to producing cheese-based products tailored for the hotel, restaurant, and café (HoReCa) sector. Located in the Almaty Industrial Zone, the plant aims to supply high-quality dairy and complementary products to meet both domestic and international demand.

The Butadiene Project is a major petrochemical development aimed at establishing large-scale production of butadiene and synthetic rubber derivatives in Kazakhstan. The project is being implemented by Butadien LLP, a subsidiary of Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu, which belongs to the sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna.

The Akkuduk Gas Exploration Project is a collaborative initiative between Kazakhstan's national gas operator, QazaqGaz, and the private entity KOR Oil Company. Situated in the Mangystau region, the Akkuduk site is a well-explored geological block with confirmed gas reserves. The project aims to accelerate geological exploration and development in line with the President's directive to expand the nation's gas resource base.
