Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The project involves the construction of a new airport in the resort area of Katon-Karagay in East Kazakhstan. The airport will serve both domestic and international flights, contributing to the development of tourism and improving the region's transportation accessibility.

Çalık Holding is implementing a project to build a legume processing plant in the Kostanay Region of Kazakhstan. The facility will provide a full production cycle — from raw material intake to final product packaging. The main crops for processing include peas, chickpeas, lentils, beans, and potentially grains and oilseeds.

The Bakhty – Ayagoz railway line is a strategic infrastructure project in Kazakhstan aimed at developing the country’s transit potential and strengthening connectivity with China. Its implementation will increase rail transport capacity between the two countries from 28 to approximately 48 million tons of cargo per year.

SANY Renewable Energy is building a wind turbine components manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl Region in partnership with the Samruk-Kazyna sovereign wealth fund. The plant will produce nacelles, hubs, towers, and other key components to supply Kazakhstan's growing wind energy sector.

The project involves the construction of the first waste heat recovery (WHR) power plant in the CIS region that will utilize ferroalloy off-gas from Smelting Shop No. 4 of the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant, a branch of JSC TNK Kazchrome. The plant will generate up to 80 MW of electricity by capturing and converting gas that is currently flared, reducing harmful emissions and enhancing energy efficiency.

The Zhetisu Wind Farm is a major renewable energy project planned in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan near the Dzungarian Gates. The project aims to install a 1 GW onshore wind power facility complemented by a 300 MW/600 MWh energy storage system. Developed by ACWA Power, the project is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix and meet carbon neutrality goals.

The Koksay project is a large-scale copper mining initiative located in the Zhetysu region of southeastern Kazakhstan, approximately 230 kilometers north of Almaty. It involves the development of one of Kazakhstan’s largest undeveloped copper deposits through open-pit mining. The project includes the construction of a concentrating plant designed to process up to 50 million tonnes of ore annually.

Alstom, a leading French multinational company specializing in rail transport, is expanding its footprint in Kazakhstan through a comprehensive project that includes: Delivery of 117 new electric freight locomotives to Kazakhstan Railways (KTZ). Construction of new service centers in Astana, Almaty, Arys, and Shu to provide maintenance services for electric locomotives.

The project entails constructing a factory in the Aktobe Industrial Zone to produce sanitary paper products, including toilet paper, jumbo rolls, and paper towels. The facility aims to meet domestic demand and export to other CIS countries.
