Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The project is a large-scale greenhouse complex covering 144 hectares in the Martobe district of Shymkent, Kazakhstan. It is designed to produce approximately 36,000 tons of vegetables annually, primarily tomatoes, with potential for expansion to other crops. The project aims to enhance local food security, reduce seasonal dependence on imports, and stabilize vegetable supply in the region.

The Northern-1 project is a strategic initiative to explore and develop one of Kazakhstan’s most promising natural gas fields, located in the western region of the country. QazaqGaz, the national gas operator, and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), a leading global energy company, have signed agreements to advance the project into its next phase.

The project envisages building the largest sugar processing plant in Kazakhstan near the city of Konaev (Almaty Region), under the initiative of QazaqArab Sugar in cooperation with UAE-based Al Khaleej Sugar. The facility is designed to process up to 500,000 tons of sugar beet per year and produce approximately 500,000 tons of sugar annually — a capacity that would significantly exceed the output of existing domestic sugar factories.

The project envisages building a new urban polyclinic in the left-bank district of the Syrdarya River in Kyzylorda, with capacity for 500 outpatient visits per shift. The facility will include general medical practice departments, a diagnostic block, an infectious-diseases block, a day-hospital (day-inpatient) ward, as well as rehabilitation and preventive medicine units.

Asia United Steel is building a green steel plant in Almaty Region, Kazakhstan, with an annual production capacity of 1 million tonnes of steel. The project utilizes Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) technology, replacing coke with natural gas, reducing carbon emissions by more than 60% per tonne of steel. The plant will mainly produce strip steel, rebar pipes, galvanized steel, sectional steel lines, and other products.

The project involves construction and expansion of a modern industrial facility in the Tassay industrial zone in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, to increase production of electrical engineering products. This expansion supports manufacture of high‑voltage power transformers, autotransformers, reactors, and related electrical equipment, strengthening Kazakhstan’s domestic manufacturing capabilities and reducing dependence on imported equipment.

The Verkhuba Copper Project is a mining development initiative focused on advancing the Verkhuba copper deposit in eastern Kazakhstan toward commercial production. The project is governed by a binding Heads of Agreement (HoA) between East Star Resources Plc and Hong Kong Xinhai Mining Services Limited, establishing a joint venture company (JVCo) to finance, design, and construct the mining and processing facilities.

The Lisakovsk project is a major industrial initiative to build two processing plants for recycling iron ore tailings and other secondary iron‑bearing materials in Lisakovsk, Kazakhstan. It aims to convert historic stockpiles of iron ore processing waste into usable iron ore concentrate for metallurgical use, improving resource efficiency and environmental sustainability.

The project involves the expansion of the existing Ust‑Kamenogorsk Combined Heat and Power (CHP) plant to address acute shortages in electrical and thermal energy supply in the East Kazakhstan region. It foresees the installation of a new turbine unit (No. 13) with a capacity of 100 MW and a boiler unit (No.
