Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The Zhambyl Wind Farm is a major renewable energy initiative being developed in the Zhambyl Region of Kazakhstan. The project is co-owned and jointly implemented by China Power International Holding Ltd. (CPIH) and SANY Renewable Energy, with each holding an equal stake.

A large-scale renewable energy project led by TotalEnergies through its subsidiary Total Eren. The project aims to construct a 1 GW wind power plant paired with 600 MWh of battery energy storage in Mirny, Zhambyl Region, Kazakhstan. 5 million tons annually.

SANY Renewable Energy is building a wind turbine components manufacturing plant in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl Region in partnership with the Samruk-Kazyna sovereign wealth fund. The plant will produce nacelles, hubs, towers, and other key components to supply Kazakhstan's growing wind energy sector.

The Zhetisu Wind Farm is a major renewable energy project planned in the Zhetysu region of Kazakhstan near the Dzungarian Gates. The project aims to install a 1 GW onshore wind power facility complemented by a 300 MW/600 MWh energy storage system. Developed by ACWA Power, the project is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to increase the share of renewable energy in its electricity mix and meet carbon neutrality goals.

The Zhanaozen Hybrid Power Plant is Kazakhstan’s first integrated multi-source energy facility combining renewable and conventional generation technologies to provide low-carbon, reliable electricity for industrial operations in the Mangystau Region. The plant harnesses wind (77 MW), solar photovoltaic (50 MW), and gas-fired (120 MW) generation units, achieving a total installed capacity of 247 MW.

The Khromtau 2 Wind Power Plant is an onshore wind energy project located near Khromtau in the Aktobe region of Kazakhstan. 25 MW. The turbines have a hub height of 105 meters and a rotor diameter of 171 meters.

The project provides for the construction of wind and solar power plants with a total capacity of up to 2 GW, as well as the installation of electrolysis and ammonia production units. Production capacities are expected to reach up to 75,000 tons of green hydrogen, some of which are then converted into 310,000 tons of green ammonia annually. Part of the output will be used domestically, with the majority intended for export.

In the framework of the Astana International Forum, at the presence of the Italian President of the Council of Ministers Giorgia Meloni and the President of Kazakhstan, Qasym-Jomart Toqaev, TECNIMONT and Samruk-Kazyna, Kazakhstan’s sovereign wealth fund, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) aimed at supporting the development of energy infrastructures in the Country.

The project involves the construction of a utility-scale solar photovoltaic power plant in the Sauran District of Turkistan Region, Kazakhstan. The officially stated installed capacity is 300 MW AC, with an energy storage system included in the project scope.
