Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The Ertis Hydrometallurgical Plant is a state-of-the-art pressure oxidation (POX) facility under development by Solidcore Resources plc (formerly Polymetal International). Located within the Pavlodar Special Economic Zone in Kazakhstan, the plant is designed to process refractory gold concentrates, which make up over 80% of the company’s mineral reserves.

The Koksay project is a large-scale copper mining initiative located in the Zhetysu region of southeastern Kazakhstan, approximately 230 kilometers north of Almaty. It involves the development of one of Kazakhstan’s largest undeveloped copper deposits through open-pit mining. The project includes the construction of a concentrating plant designed to process up to 50 million tonnes of ore annually.

The Aidarly Copper–Molybdenum Mining and Processing Complex is a large greenfield mining project at the Aidarly deposit in the Ayagoz District of Kazakhstan’s Abay Region. The project combines an open-pit mine with a concentrator designed to process up to 75 million tonnes of ore per year.

This project involves the construction of a mining and metallurgical plant in the Korday district of Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. Monterra Qasaqstan LLP, a subsidiary of Germany-based Monterra Group AG, is spearheading the initiative. The facility is designed to produce up to 10 metric tons of gold per year in doré alloy, sourced from the Karatas–Maybulak deposit.

KazaX Minerals Inc. is developing the Lomonosov iron ore deposit in Kostanay Region, located in the Ulyanovsk and Zhdanovsk rural districts. The project includes constructing a beneficiation plant to produce iron ore concentrate with a 67% iron content.

Fujian Hengwang Investment plans to build a large-scale steel production complex within the Jibek Joly Special Economic Zone in Kazakhstan’s Zhambyl Region. The plant’s capacity is projected at up to 3 million tonnes of steel per year, making it one of the largest metallurgical investments in the country.

KAZ Minerals Group, a leading copper production company in Kazakhstan, has entered into a strategic partnership with Chilean company ME Elecmetal to construct a state-of-the-art grinding ball manufacturing plant in Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan. This collaboration aims to localize the production of grinding media, which are essential components in the ore processing operations of mining enterprises.

China’s East Hope Group (EHG), a company specializing in non-ferrous metals, plans to establish a vertically integrated industrial park in Kazakhstan. The project aims to create a full production cycle for environmentally friendly aluminum products and covers several key areas – raw material extraction, aluminum-based product processing, and deep processing of high value-added materials.

The project involves the construction of a ferroalloy plant in Ekie. The project is implemented in collaboration with the South Korean company SAC, a recognized leader in the ferroalloy industry. SAC’s participatbastuz, Pavlodar Region, as part of a larger metallurgical cluster initiativion ensures the establishment of a world-class enterprise that adheres to the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.
