The Trans-Caspian Fiber Optic Cable Project is a strategic infrastructure initiative aimed at constructing a 380 km submarine fiber-optic cable line across the Caspian Sea, connecting Sumgait in Azerbaijan to Aktau in Kazakhstan.

The project is intended to create the largest data center campus in Central Asia and position Kazakhstan as a regional hub for sovereign artificial intelligence, cloud services, high-performance computing and advanced digital infrastructure.

The project involves the construction of a new high-performance computing (HPC) supercomputer facility in Kosshy, near Astana, Kazakhstan. It is designed to significantly expand the country’s national artificial intelligence and data processing capabilities. The system is expected to be approximately three times more powerful than the existing supercomputer located in Almaty.
