Investment projects in Kazakhstan

The Kokshetau Multidisciplinary Hospital is a large-scale public-private partnership (PPP) healthcare infrastructure project located in Kokshetau, Kazakhstan. The project involves the construction of a modern 630-bed hospital designed to serve over 730,000 residents of the Akmola region. It is being developed as a greenfield facility with a total built-up area of approximately 110,000–111,000 m² on a 17-hectare site.

The ALEM project aims to build a medical equipment manufacturing plant in Astana, Kazakhstan. The facility will produce innovative equipment for organ preservation and transportation, specifically for transplantation. The flagship product is a system that can keep donor organs viable for over 24 hours, which is a significant improvement over current methods that preserve organs for only 4-6 hours.

The Indian pharmaceutical company MSN Group is partnering with Kazakhstan’s KFK Medservice Plus LLPto establish a full-cycle pharmaceutical manufacturing facility in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. The project involves the construction of a modern plant under the brand MSN Pharmalab, focusing on the production of solid dosage forms, including tablets and capsules.

The founder and owner of the ice cream company Shin-Line, Andrey Shin, is entering the private healthcare market: together with a partner from South Korea, he has begun the construction of a 200-bed hospital in Almaty Region. The hospital will improve the healthcare system following the Korean model and ensure the use of advanced technologies.

The Khan Tengri Biopharma project involves the construction of a modern full-cycle biopharmaceutical manufacturing complex in the Alatau Special Economic Zone in Kazakhstan. The facility is designed to produce a wide range of pharmaceutical products using advanced manufacturing technologies. The plant is planned to manufacture 58 types of medicines, including 27 international nonproprietary names (INNs).

The project involves the construction of a modern five-story polyclinic in the city of Taldykorgan, designed to accommodate 500 patient visits per shift. The facility will include one underground level and a total building volume of approximately 45,800 cubic meters, with a construction footprint of 2,400 square meters.

Samruk-Kazyna JSC and the Ashmore investment company, through its subsidiary Ashmore Healthcare International, plan to create the first Western branded multidisciplinary clinic in Kazakhstan, which will become the medical hub of Central Asia. The total investment is about USD150 million.

The project envisages building a new urban polyclinic in the left-bank district of the Syrdarya River in Kyzylorda, with capacity for 500 outpatient visits per shift. The facility will include general medical practice departments, a diagnostic block, an infectious-diseases block, a day-hospital (day-inpatient) ward, as well as rehabilitation and preventive medicine units.

The Orzax project involves constructing a greenfield food supplements manufacturing facility in the Turkistan Region of Kazakhstan. It is backed by a €25 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and represents the first international production base for Orzax outside Turkey, established through its local subsidiary, Orzax Central Asia LLP. Total estimated project cost is €35 million.
