Investment projects in Kazakhstan

Danaflex Group, a leading Russian manufacturer of flexible packaging materials, is launching a new production facility in the Almaty Region of Kazakhstan. This project is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand its presence in the Central Asian market and better serve international clients who are relocating or expanding their operations within the region.

The Butadiene Project is a major petrochemical development aimed at establishing large-scale production of butadiene and synthetic rubber derivatives in Kazakhstan. The project is being implemented by Butadien LLP, a subsidiary of Samruk-Kazyna Ondeu, which belongs to the sovereign wealth fund Samruk-Kazyna.

The Zhanazhol Urea Production Project is a major initiative to strengthen Kazakhstan’s fertilizer production and reduce reliance on imports. 2 million tons of urea — meeting domestic demand and enabling exports to China, Central Asia, and Europe.

This project involves the expansion of the existing sodium cyanide production facility operated by Talas Investment Company in the Talas district of Zhambyl region, Kazakhstan. The expansion aims to increase the plant's annual production capacity from 15,000 to 30,000 tonnes of sodium cyanide, a chemical primarily used in gold mining, metallurgy, agriculture, and dye manufacturing.

The project involves constructing a hydrogen production unit at the Pavlodar Oil Chemistry Refinery (POCR) in Kazakhstan. This facility will produce hydrogen essential for hydrotreatment processes, enabling the annual production of approximately 160,000 tonnes of winter diesel fuel. The project involves using steam reforming technology, one of the most cost-effective and widely applied methods for hydrogen production worldwide.

The project involves construction of a facility to produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in the city of Rudny, Kostanay region, Kazakhstan. The plant will convert up to ~100,000 tons of bioethanol per year into approximately 54,000 tons of aviation fuel annually. -based LanzaJet (alcohol-to-jet conversion) in partnership with Kazakh parties.

The project involves construction of a mineral fertilizer production complex in the Sozak District of Turkestan Region, Kazakhstan. It targets annual production of approximately 1 million tonnes of nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK) and other mineral fertilizers once fully operational, with phased capacity expansion.

The project involves the construction of Kazakhstan’s first alkylate production plant in Pavlodar region, based on a butane-butylene fraction. The plant will produce approximately 100,000 tons per year of alkylate, a high-octane gasoline component with a low content of harmful impurities such as sulfur, aromatics, and unsaturated hydrocarbons.

In partnership with Sinopec, Técnicas Reunidas is developing a steam cracker unit within a petrochemical complex led by KazMunayGas in Atyrau Province.
