Investment projects in Kazakhstan

Polymet Solutions Corporation LLP is developing a new foundry plant in Karaganda Region to supply cast steel products for Kazakhstan’s mining, metallurgical, and machine-building sectors. The project’s core commercial focus is the production of steel mill liners and grinding balls, which are used in ore-processing and industrial equipment.

KAZ Minerals is planning to develop a large copper smelter near Aktogay in the Abay Region of Kazakhstan. The project is intended to add domestic copper-processing capacity and reduce the export of KAZ Minerals’ own copper concentrate. The planned annual capacity is approximately 300,000 tonnes of cathode copper.

The Central Mukur project is a planned gold mining and processing development in Abay Region, Kazakhstan. The project is being advanced by Nordgold EK LLP, which is the subsoil user and initiator of the environmental procedures for the site. The project covers the industrial open-pit development of oxidized gold-bearing ores at the Central Mukur deposit.

The project involves the planned establishment of a metallic rhenium production facility in Saran, Karaganda Region, Kazakhstan. The planned output is metallic rhenium recovered from secondary rhenium-bearing raw materials. Its stated purpose is to expand high-value processing, introduce advanced industrial technologies and increase Kazakhstan's exports of critical-mineral products.
