Investment projects in Kazakhstan

A solemn ceremony of laying a capsule in the foundation of the future Texol Steel Technology foundry, a new strategic facility within the framework of the development of the industrial cluster of the region, was held in the southern industrial zone of Atyrau. The new Texol Steel Technology plant will produce steel parts for railway wagons — stops, supports, clamps, axle boxes, etc.

A joint venture has been established to develop the Chu-Sarysui basin, the world's third largest sedimentary copper basin Robert Friedland, Executive co-chairman of the Canadian company Ivanhoe Mines, reported to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the start of large-scale exploration work in the Chu-Sarysui copper basin, the press service of the head of state reported following the meeting.

Construction of the Shokpar-Gagarinskoye mining and metallurgical plant, which will be located in the foothill area near the village of Sogandy, has begun in the Kordai district of the Zhambyl region. The governor of the region and domestic investors took part in the launch ceremony. The company will process polymetallic ores from the Shokpar –Gagarinskoye deposit, producing gold, silver, zinc and lead from them.

Central Asia Mining Co LLP plans to extract gold and silver at the Zholbarsty and Shovan deposits, which are part of the Kamystinsky ore field in the Suzak district of the Turkestan region. The total gold reserves amount to more than 900 kg.

Qarmet has started construction of a new complex of hot-dip continuous galvanizing and polymer coatings. The new lines will be an important step in the implementation of the strategic program for the renewal and expansion of production capacities of the Qarmet steel division, implemented as part of the instructions of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to modernize the largest mining and metallurgical enterprise in Kazakhstan.

7 billion tenge in the extraction and processing of copper ore at the Tesiktas deposit. The Tesiktas field is located in the Aktogay district of the Karaganda region. The project is planned to be implemented in 2024-2031, including additional exploration of the field and the development of a feasibility study in 2024-2026.

Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), a global metals and mining company, has signed a strategic contract with a consortium of Primetals Technologies and Midrex Technologies, Inc. (Midrex). The agreement covers detailed engineering, supply of key process equipment, and a range of services for the construction of a hot briquetted iron (HBI) plant in Rudny, Kazakhstan.

Balasausqandiq Vanadium Project Discovered in the 1940s, the Balasausqandiq deposit is a very large black-shale deposit containing vanadium and valuable by-products. This deposit is unlike the majority of other vanadium deposits in the world, either in production or proposed, in that it is not comprised of vanadiferous titano-magnetite and is amenable to a processing method which is lower in both capital and operating costs.

The project envisages the development of a lithium extraction and processing facility in the Ulan District of the East Kazakhstan Region. It involves mining lithium‑containing ore and establishing a processing plant to produce lithium concentrate (lithium oxide) from the deposit.
