About this project
The Republic of Kazakhstan has officially approved the construction of its Second Nuclear Power Plant, formalised by Government Resolution No. 40 signed on 26 January 2026 by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The plant is part of Kazakhstan’s strategy to diversify its national energy mix and address regional electricity deficits by adding reliable base-load nuclear capacity.
